Today I received inspiration from two stories in the book of Luke. About two months ago, I planted two flowers in my yard. I watered them daily. All of a sudden, after all the heat we had, they began to shrivel up. People told me they needed shade, so I stopped watering them, because they were in a very sunny area. After a few weeks, there was no “sign of life” from them. Today, I came home and I couldn’t believe my eyes. I saw one little purple flower and another one starting to sprout as well.
The story is found in Luke 8:40-48 it refers to the woman who had been bleeding for twelve years, and no one could heal her.. As well as the story about the synagogue ruler’s twelve year old daughter that had died. .
Luke 8:44- She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. Mark 5:26-29- She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought ” If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering…. Mark 5:33-34 Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering”.
Jesus wants you to know that even among the crowds he knows you, he sees you and knows every need you have, and he feels your pain and suffering. He is telling you it is never too late, no matter how much you have suffered, no matter how long you have suffered, no matter how much money or time you have invested to be healed. You just need to go to him, even if you can not speak, like the woman who had the bleeding discharge for many years. Just reach out to him, and touch the hem of his garment. Step out and release your faith.
Yes, Jesus is our Great Physician and Healer- He heals all our diseases – Psalm 103:3. Whatever your need is, come to Jesus. Do you have a spiritual need today, a physical need today, a financial need today, a relationship need, an emotional or mental need today? Whatever need or needs you may have- go to Jesus.
I also like to include the following verses: Luke 8:49-53 -, “Your daughter is dead, he said. “Don’t bother the teacher anymore.” Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid, just believe, and she will be healed.” … Luke 8:54 – But he took her by the hand and said, “My child get up”. Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up.
In this passage, what really stood out to me was the instruction that Jesus gave to the ruler- “Don’t be afraid, just believe. That is what Jesus wants you to know as well. There is nothing to fear, and he is also telling you not to worry, just to believe. What do you believe in? You believe in his healing power, healing power to touch every area of your life!
Once again I revisit the flowers I saw today. I want to leave you with two final thoughts. Just as God raised Jairus’s daughter from the dead- he can raise you up from the dead as well! He can raise up your finances and, he can raise up and restore your dead relationship or marriage. He can raise you up, and heal your incurable or serious illness and lift you up from any emotional distress you are facing. He can lift you up from any addiction you are drowning in and if you are lost, he can lift you up and point you in the right direction. If you are confused or indecisive, he can lift you up and give you his divine wisdom.
Even if you’re healing is delayed or never comes, do not fear, you still will find peace from Jesus He can help you, because he will give you his grace and his strength to go through the trials you are facing. Jesus loves you very much. As it says in the Word, His yoke is easy, and his burden is light. Cast your cares upon Jesus. We all just need to surrender to him, and believe! We serve a big God, he is omnipotent (all powerful and mighty), he is omniscient (knows all), and he is omnipresent (he is everywhere). He is sovereign (in control). He is your sole provider. He is a God of Comfort and Peace.
If you are searching for true lasting victory over your life look to Jesus Christ. ” Do not be afraid”, for I am with you.” is mentioned several times in the bible. The first important step is to have a strong desire as much as you need air to breathe, to have a personal relationship with Jesus.
Until next time, may God bless you and keep you.
